Objective
The purpose of this guide is to show how to create a custom assessment using the more than 250 competencies available on our platform, optimizing candidate evaluation according to the requirements of the selected job profile.
Steps to Use This Section
Step 1: Access the "Create Your Assessment" Section
Click on the "Create Your Assessment" option from the platform's main dashboard.
Step 2: Enter the Job Title and Search for Competencies
Enter the name of the position you want to evaluate and perform a search to find competencies related to the profile. This will allow you to select the most relevant competencies.
Step 3: Review and Adjust the Competencies Suggested by the System
The system will display the competencies related to the position with a highlighted border. If any competency is not relevant, you can remove it, and you can also add additional competencies that were not included in the search results.
To search for specific competencies, click "View All". You can search for competencies by name or category.
Step 4: Calibrate Competencies According to the Position Hierarchy
Calibrate the selected competencies according to the hierarchy or level of the position. This calibration allows you to adjust the difficulty level of each competency based on the role being evaluated, ensuring that the results are accurate and relevant.
Enable the "Global Calibration" switch to apply the same hierarchy level to all added competencies.
Hierarchy levels range from Level 1 (most operational) to Level 8 (management level), allowing different types of positions to be evaluated.
NOTE: Although it is possible to calibrate each competency individually, we recommend using the global calibration feature so that all competencies are assessed using the same hierarchy level.
Step 5: Add a Custom Description (Optional)
You can add a custom description to the assessment to specify details about the purpose of the evaluation, the competencies being assessed, and any other relevant information.
Step 5: Save the Custom Assessment
Click "Save" to complete the setup. The assessment will automatically be saved in the "Library" section under the "Custom Assessments" category.
Key Features of Custom Assessments
Visual Identification: Custom assessments are highlighted in orange, making them easy to distinguish from other categories.
Calibration: Each competency can be adjusted with a specific hierarchy level. We recommend maintaining a consistent calibration across all competencies within an assessment, as this influences the benchmark used to determine the expected score. This approach ensures consistent evaluation parameters.
Assessment Duration and Competencies: Before saving an assessment, you can view its estimated maximum duration along with the number of competencies included.
Tips and Best Practices
Consistent Calibration: Apply an appropriate and consistent hierarchy level to each competency to accurately assess skills according to the position level.
Balanced Duration: Consider both the average and maximum assessment times. For example, with an average duration of 14 minutes and a maximum duration of 32 minutes, including around 8 competencies provides a good balance between depth and completion time.
Clear Descriptions: Add specific descriptions to help evaluators and candidates understand the objectives and expectations of the assessment.
Common Errors and How to Avoid Them
Gaps in Evaluated Competencies:
Common Error: The global score and/or the scores of specific competencies in the evaluation report may exceed the scale used to determine job-fit percentages.
Cause: This is often due to inadequate calibration of competencies. For instance, if a competency is calibrated at a level below what the position requires, the results may inaccurately reflect the candidate’s skills.
Solution: Ensure all competencies are calibrated correctly based on the job’s hierarchy. Maintaining this consistency in calibration is essential for accurate results and avoiding misinterpretations of candidate performance.
Inadequate Evaluation Time:
Common Error: Creating a test with too many competencies, which may extend the evaluation time beyond the recommended duration.
Solution: Adjust the number of competencies to stay within the estimated duration. This not only optimizes the candidate’s experience but also improves the efficiency of the evaluation process.
Conclusion
Creating custom tests based on competencies allows the selection process to be tailored to the specific needs of each role, offering more precise and relevant evaluations. By following the steps and recommendations outlined above, you can maximize the value of these evaluations and achieve results that accurately reflect candidates’ potential.
